Aaron's story

Aaron was diagnosed with congenital heart disease before birth and although he’s only 8 years old, has already had 4 operations

BHF Nurses have been huge in our lives since before he was born and are a fundamental part of caring for our child.

Luckily, Aaron’s family has received essential care and support from BHF Heart Nurses every step of the way.

Before Aaron was born they reassured his mum, showing her round the intensive care unit where he would be treated.

And BHF Nurses have taught his school teachers about his congenital heart disease, which helps him attend a mainstream school.

Sam describes her BHF nurses as her ‘security blanket’.

"We’ve had a couple of scary moments when we thought we would lose them and I couldn’t see how we would get by. I would be traumatised - I could not bear to think of life without them.
