Rajasthan Bike Ride
20 -29 November 2010
Discover Rajasthan - India's "Land of Kings"
During this fantastic bike ride
challenge you will spend 5 days cycling through the colourful
Rajasthan countryside experiencing the fascinating and
exotic culture of this stunning region of India.
Here the harsh landscape and tribal customs have fashioned a
people and culture which are visibly different from the rest of the
country.
After arriving in Agra there is the opportunity to visit
the world renowned Taj Mahal before the start of the
challenge.
The ride sets out from the village of Khanua and winds through
fields, small villages and past temples en route to the overnight
camp near Bashawar.
The ride continues through the beautiful and scenic countryside
- stunning green valleys with lush vegetation and ancient hill-top
forts, an opportunity to see rural Rajasthan at its
best!
The ride includes a visit to the Abhenrai ancient temple
complex and Chand Baori, one of Rajasthan's most awe inspiring step
wells, with an overnight camp on the edge of the Sariska
Park where hopefully we will see the monkeys playing in the
trees!
The following day follows a more arid route, but is another
spectacular day of cycling past ruins of an ancient city and
through sand dunes to Doela village with two forts set on the
background hills. We camp overnight in the midst of the
atmospheric sand dunes.
The last day of cycling is through almost desert like terrain
between the sand dunes and on through authentic villages towards
the finish line at Lal Mahal where this amazing challenge ends!
From here we transfer to Jaipur, known as the "Pink City" with
time to explore and visit the Amber Fort, before the return journey
home.
