Hearty Lives Carrickfergus
Three wards in
Carrickfergus borough have female life expectancy rates
consistently below the Northern Ireland average, with one
in five children becoming overweight or obese by
the age of 5.
Working in partnership with Carrickfergus Borough Council,
the Northern Health and Social
Care Trust and the Public Health Agency,
Hearty Lives Carrickfergus is a £212,000 project,
which aims to reduce the high levels of CVD in
mothers and young children.
Our aim
- develop programmes to tackle obesity in
women
- help women achieve and maintain a healthy weight before, during
and after pregnancy using healthy eating and
exercise
- co-ordinate and develop obesity prevention programmes for
families.
