Around 1 million men and nearly 500,000 women have had a heart attack in the UK.
Nearly 600,000 men and 600,000 women in the UK have had a stroke, totalling nearly 1.2 million people. The number of people in the UK living with coronary heart disease (CHD) increases with age and is higher in men than in women. In total there are nearly 2.7 million people in the UK living with CHD.
